Actually came off the porch of a country store in Pennsylvania and then from an old collection. The construction is typical of 19th century rural carpenters, with through-mortised tenons and angled wedges. You can not only feel the hand dressed surfaces, you can even see them. The maker only dressed up the front side with an apron, leaving the unseen back open.
